An update from BPC:
WALK-A-Thon is ONE WEEK AWAY:

  • We have 52% of students registered online and have already raised $13,837.00 (92.25% of our goal). WE CAN DO THIS BAUER!!! 
  • Blowing out our $15,000 goal means more money benefitting our kids this academic year and allows the BPC to consider teacher’s special grant requests to fund learning enrichment programs for classrooms.
  • We have received donations from supporters in 113 cities and 22 states.
  • We have 8 Classrooms that have already met their goal, 6 that are just $300 (or less) from their goal, 17 superstars (students that have raised $200) and 57 students students eligible to throw whip cream at Principal Meersma at the assembly ($100 raised).
  • Corporate sponsors have donated at record levels. We have some really cool prizes for the top 10 fundraisers, 3 top classrooms, and great raffle prizes.  Stop by the bulletin board in school to take a peek!

  • Race location:  Eagle Stadium on the Baldwin MS Campus.
  • Race Date:  October 29, 2019
  • Race Time:  Races begin at 5:00 PM.  Gates open at 4:30 PM.


  • Race Information: The Turkey Trot is designed for elementary school children but we will have one additional race for grades 6-12.
  • Entry Fee:  $6.00 Per Person
  • Prizes: Turkeys, Apple Cider and Pumpkins.
  • Individual Race Groups: PK-2nd Less than ¼ mile.  Grades 3-5 Less than a mile.  Grades 6-12 less than a mile. If your child needs special accommodations, please let your PE Teacher know.
  • Entry Deadline:  Monday, October 9, 2019
  • Late Registration:  On race day, late registration and additional shirts will be available at the late registration table near the stadium entrance. 

Severe Weather:  In the case of severe weather and cancellation, the Turkey Trot will not be rescheduled.

Walk-a-thon is TWO WEEKS AWAY:

  • We have 39% of students registered online and have already raised $10,027.00 (67% of our goal).  If you registered, it is fun to log in and watch the incredible support for our school. We would love to see 100% registration online, even if you are using donation envelopes to fundraise.
  • We have received donations from supporters in 92 cities and 20 states.
  • We have 6 Classrooms that have already met their goal, 13 superstars (students that have raised $200) and 39 students students eligible to throw whip cream at Principal Meersma ($100 raised).
  • This is our primary fundraiser and the Parent Club strives to use all money raised during the same school year.  This means that the money raised by your children directly benefits your children. We use a large portion of proceeds to fund the 5th Grade Celebration so, let’s get those 5th graders registered and fundraising!
  • We have some really cool prizes to raffle off this year and top classrooms will receive prizes for the entire classroom and the teachers.  Stop by the bulletin board in school to check them out.

END OF THE DAY/BUS REMINDERS TO HELP KEEP STUDENTS SAFE
All students that are assigned a bus must ride that bus.  Students are not allowed to switch buses to ride home with another student.  If you would like to pick up your student, please inform the office before 3:15 pm.  ALL parent pick ups will be dismissed through the SOUTH exit door.

MORNING DROP OFF
This is located at the front of the building (south end).  Students may exit and walk to the front doors where staff will be to assist them to the playground.  Please do not drop students off before 8:35 am.

What a spectacular and energizing first week of school!  Students are the lifeblood of our school and we love working with your children at Bauer Elementary.  Currently students are learning and rehearsing behaviors according to our S.O.A.R. matrix.  When we S.O.A.R. we are SAFE, OWN our behaviors, Act RESPONSIBLY and demonstrate RESPECT!

Baton Twirling Classes 
Dates: Every Wednesday beginning September 25, 2019 and ending December 18, 2019

Times: Ages 4-7, 6:15-7:00 p.m.   Ages 8-18, 7:00-7:45 p.m.

Registration: On September 25th at the first class

Location: Georgetown United Methodist Church Gymnasium, 2766 Baldwin Street, Jenison

Cost: $8/week to be paid at each class.  $7 registration fee to be paid at first class.  Batons will be available for purchase at class for $26.  Payment plans available.
Trophies, medals, and ribbons available to earn!  Students will have an opportunity to show off their skills at a competition in December, and also can march in the Grand Rapids Santa Parade, which is on TV.  Questions? Student Report Cards will be mailed on Friday, June 14 and will include your child's teacher's name for the 2019-20 school year.  We are growing again and are in the process of hiring a few more amazing teachers and will announce soon!  Please watch your emails for updates on this and additional information including bus assignments throughout the summer.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Bauer Parent Club is looking for a parent willing to help coordinate our Coin War and Breakfast with Books 
(just for PK/K students-usually muffins/juice) events next year! (Both events take place during the Fall Book Fair.)
In addition, this person would assist our Book Fair coordinator, Jamie Bunting, during the Fall (November) and

Saturday Slip N Slide - June 15, 2019, Noon-5pm
