Bauer Family Groups

Today our students gathered with their Bauer Family Groups to focus on Putting First Things First, the third Habit of the 7 Habits of Happy Kids.  Today they focused on the making a plan part of Putting First Things First.  Each group spent time brainstorming what they loved about Bauer in order to make a gift for Mrs. VanBergen.   They wrote their ideas on tags and put them in boxes and wrapped them like a present.  The presents were delivered to Mrs. VanBergen for her to open and read.  This was very interesting and rewarding to see what each student enjoyed about Bauer.  As you're in the building the next few weeks be looking for our WE LOVE BAUER TREES.

School Apparel

Our Parent Club has created a Bauer school spirit apparel website!

Bauer's Parent Club is offering a variety of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel items to promote Eagle spirit.

The website will be open throughout the year, but if you're thinking of giving Eagle gear as holiday gifts, those orders need to be in by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1 so they can be delivered to school in time before break.

All ordering and payment is done online through the website: www.HPSspiritstore.com. At checkout, please choose “Give directly to student” or “Hold for parent pickup.”

A small portion of the proceeds (10%) goes directly back to Bauer. There is a 1% credit card fee, but no shipping charges. You will be notified by email when your items are expected to be delivered to school.

Any questions, please contact Katie Terpstra at katie.terpstra@gmail.com. Go Eagles!

Coin War - Upper vs. Lower Elementary - October 24-26

Coin War - All for Books

Turning Dollars and Coins Into Books and Smiles!

All for Books is an easy and effective way to unite the school community and provide more books for kids and teachers. All funds collected through All for Books are used to buy more books from the Book Fair.
Funds can be used to:
  • Give more students a chance to participate in the Book Fair.
  • Add new books to the school library.
  • Help teachers build and refresh their classroom libraries.
  • Donate to another school or community organization in need of books.
Scholastic Book Fairs® then matches those monetary donations with a donation of up to $1 million in books from The Scholastic Possible Fund, which distributes books to children through organizations such as the Kids In Need FoundationReader to Reader, Inc., and the National Center for Families Learning.
By working together, we can help connect kids with more books than ever before.

Bauer School Families

Bauer School Families
This year, all students and staff at Bauer are participating in School Families.  This is a time to build school community across all grade levels.  Students were paired with a buddy and assigned a School Family lead teacher.  Every early release Friday, students will be asked to wear their BE AWESOME shirts.  We will meet with our school family group on these days.  For the first meeting, the students participated in some fun “getting to know you” activities within their school family.  We discussed our purpose of a school family, sang some songs, and played a name game.  The students and teachers are looking forward to learning more about the Seven Habits of Happy Kids, written by Sean Covey, as we continue our school family meetings in order to foster productive learners and members in our society.

Bauer communications going to SPAM...

Construction at Bauer

Bauer Families,
As our community continues to grow, so does our school!  Your generous support of Hudsonville Public Schools has enabled the district to add on to Bauer.  Construction will begin next week to add two classrooms on the east side of the building.  In order to work and keep our children safe, the construction company has put up a fence that encompasses the work site.

We are so fortunate to have a very large playground.  Our students will be using more of the north end than they previously did.  Students will not be able to enter or exit the south gate.  Parents that drop off students should plan on using the front of the building avoiding the bus drop off area beginning tomorrow and continuing through the end of the school year.

We are excited to grow and realize we will need to be flexible as we do so.  Construction should be complete by the end of July!  I will keep you posted on how our project is progressing.

Thank you for your support and cooperation!
