We had a great week at Bauer with all the fun spirit days and ending with a pep assembly!  It is Homecoming for Hudsonville High School so if you are looking for something to do tonight, check out the football game.  GO EAGLES!

Looking ahead..... Bauer's Holiday Program for Grades K-5th will be on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 7:00 pm - Fair Haven Ministries.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Holiday Classroom Parties
The class parties at Bauer (Halloween 10/31, Holiday 12/20, Valentine's Day 2/14) will take place at different times
throughout the day.  Your child's teacher will inform you of their party time.  This is to accommodate families with
parking and with parents that have multiple children at Bauer so that they may attend more than one class party.

A change for our parties this year is that you must inform us that you will be coming to the party at
least two days prior and have a completed background check on file. This will place your name on our
class party list.  Anyone who is not on the list and does not have the background check done will not be allowed to
attend the party. This is an important step in ensuring safety and security for all students in the building.

If you have not filled out a background check form already, you can click on this link to do so. This must be done
every year, however once you have done it (and it only takes a minute or two!) you will be set for the school year!

Please call the office with any questions. (616-669-6824)

Student Pick Up/Drop Off line
Bauer has several students that are either dropped off or picked up from school.  We need your help to ensure
that the drop-off line does not extend into the street!  To help make our pick up/drop off line run smoothly,
we have listed a few reminders below:
1.  You may park your vehicle in a parking spot (not along the curb) and walk up to the south door to
pick up your child or you may line up in the loop at the south end of the building.
2.  Please be considerate of others when you are dropping off or picking up your student(s) to keep the line
moving quickly.  It will help to have your child organized and ready to exit the vehicle when dropping them off.
3.  Please do not try to pass another vehicle in the loop.
4.  Always keep your eyes alert to others walking in the parking lot.
5.  Please do not park and wait along the yellow line that has the No Parking sign.

Are you planning on bringing lunch to your student at Bauer?
We need your support and assistance!  Due to food allergies and keeping our students safe, we ask that
when parents or grandparents come to enjoy a lunch with their child, that this time is enjoyed with ONLY your
child.

We appreciate all your support and for helping make Bauer a great place to learn!

PEP ASSEMBLY FUN!

Thank you to Hudsonville High School's Pep Assembly crew!  What an awesome experience for our students!  Go Eagles!

Third Graders Celebrated Milton Hershey's Birthday!

Third graders celebrated Milton Hershey’s birthday on September 13.  Students were engaged with various math activities all involving Hershey chocolate.  They learned about area, perimeter, weight, and time all including different types of chocolate.  We, of course, enjoyed eating chocolate as well.  Happy Birthday, Milton Hershey!

TURKEY TROT
As the fall season quickly approaches, the Elementary P.E. Staff at Hudsonville is busy planning our annual Turkey Trot running race for the students of Hudsonville Public Schools. This year's Turkey Trot will be on October 23, 2018. We are so proud to have local and family-run businesses in our area support the race! Last year we had nearly 1000 participants register and we are hoping to exceed that number this year! Sponsorship is $150, and that will get you a business card sized advertisement on the back of the shirts.  The name of your business will also be announced over the sound system throughout the evening.  Many sponsors also donate coupons or flyers to distribute to the more than 1000 participants. It is a great way to get your business some recognition and help provide an awesome community event that promotes health and fitness!

If you are interested in sponsoring or would like more information, please don't hesitate to contact me! I can be reached at ajohnson@hpseagles.net or by calling the school.  Watch for details on registration for the Turkey Trot soon.  Thank you!

HABIT CARDS
Together we learn. Together we lead.”  That is our motto at Bauer Elementary School.  We recognize and encourage students to use the Seven Habits of Happy Kids outlined in Sean Covey’s book.  Our faculty is always on the look out for students that exemplify being proactive, thinking win-win, beginning with the end in mind, putting first things first, seeking first to understand prior to being understood, working in synergy with others and balancing the responsibilities in their lives.
We recognize students with our words and also by giving out “Habit Cards” to individual students and classes.  Each Monday, our teachers will draw out one card for each grade level.  The students who have a card randomly drawn will be able to lead the school in the Pledge every morning for a week and a group picture will be displayed in our cabinet by the office.  We will also celebrate as a group on a monthly basis.
It is our hope that your child shares with you when he or she receives a card and what it was for.  We have amazingly kind and caring students at Bauer!  We thank you for encouraging your child to continue with great behavior and the habits of happy kids!

PAPERGATOR - Recycling PAY$!

5th Graders Scientific Investigation

This week, Bauer fifth grade students set out to do a scientific investigation that has puzzled millions of people for years. Which type of bubble gum is actually the best for blowing bubbles? Students became scientists when focusing on dependent, independent, and control variables to support the integrity of the investigation. Unfortunately, the debate lives on, but its certainly not due to lack of discussion and data interpretation! We were left with more questions and ideas for further investigations.
