I want to send out a big thank you to the friends and families that donated, the parents that came out to help, and the staff for joining in the fun. A very special thanks goes to Katie Terpstra and Michelle Sadler for doing such a great job organizing this event. An event like this doesn't happen so smoothly without a lot of careful planning. Thanks everyone and enjoy some pictures from our day!

Walk-A-Thon Fun!
What a great time we had at the annual Walk-A-Thon! Lots of families came out to support and cheer on the students. We lucked out with the weather being so beautiful and the kids really enjoyed the fund raising activity.

Student Leadership Idea
One of our wonderful 4th grade students came up with a fun leadership activity for his class. Tyler created a pinata with the word "Leader" across the front. Inside the pinata were small bags of candy with a slip of paper to inspire each student.
Here are the inspirational sayings he came up with:
*be inspirational
*be cheerful
*be welcoming
*be nice
*be loyal
*be giving
*be kind
*be open-minded
*be yourself
*be funny
*be considerate
*be sympathetic
*be fun
*be helpful
*be trustworthy
*be truthful
*be pleasant
*be selfless
*be thoughtful
*be sensitive
*be sweet
*be generous
*be gentle
*be dependable
*be positive

Bauer Walk-A-Thon Returns!
Our big fundraiser for Bauer is scheduled for September 26th. Parent Club is organizing our annual Walk-A-Thon again and they have added a new twist. As was the case before, if a student raises at least $25 they are entered into a raffle to win fantastic prizes. The twist this year is that if students raise $50 they are entered into a bonus raffle which gives them the opportunity to throw a pie in Mrs. Gortsema's or a teacher's face during our Walk-A-Thon Award Assembly!!
Parent Club uses money raised to help support classroom needs. Last year funds raised bought us our very popular Gaga Ball Pit and have also helped us to purchase more classroom iPads and class books. Thank you to all the parents that help and to our fabulous students who are raising money for our school in a very fun way!

Another Great Way to Support Our Children
This fall Bauer Elementary received a check from Target for $441.55! The money was raised from families who signed up for Target's "Take Charge of Education" program. The money raised from this program will now go directly back to support our children in the classrooms.
How does it work? Basically if you use the REDcard at Target and designate our school, Target will donate 1% of your REDcard purchases back to us. If you are interested you can find more information by going to the Target website.
